Over the years, I’ve had the honor of walking with clients through a wide range of life experiences. I’ve come to believe that healing isn’t about fixing what’s broken, but about returning to what’s true. My clinical focus areas reflect the themes that often show up in therapy: anxiety that hides beneath achievement, burnout from chronic over-functioning, family patterns that echo across generations, and the quiet longing to feel more at home in your own life. These are some of the areas I specialize in and hold with care.
Clinical Focus Areas
High-Functioning Anxiety & Depression
You may look like you’re managing everything just fine. You stay on top of work, responsibilities, and relationships. Yet internally, you feel chronically overwhelmed, emotionally depleted, or disconnected from yourself. I work with clients to explore the hidden roots of this emotional strain, often tied to perfectionism, unmet needs, or early relational wounds. Together, we’ll work toward deeper self-understanding, meaningful relief, and a renewed sense of connection and clarity.
Specialties: Anxiety, Depression, Executive Functioning
Identity Development &
Family-of-Origin Healing
Who you are today is shaped by the stories you were told, as well as the ones you’ve had to untell in order to find your voice. I help clients gently unpack family dynamics, cultural messages, and attachment wounds to better understand their emotional world and rebuild a grounded, authentic sense of self.
Specialties: Reparenting Childhood Emotional Neglect, Women’s Issues, Emerging Adulthood
Hwa Byeong (화병) & the Cost of Holding It All In / Culturally Rooted Emotional Distress
In many Korean and East Asian families, emotional pain does not always show up as obvious sadness or anxiety. It can feel like tightness in the chest, simmering anger, chronic tension, or a deep sense of stuckness.
Hwa Byeong (화병), often described as “fire illness,” is a Korean term for the toll of long-held emotion, particularly anger and hurt that could not be safely expressed. While the name is Korean, similar patterns of emotional suppression, intergenerational pressure, and role-based expectations are common across many Asian American experiences.
You may have learned to endure, achieve, and keep the peace, even at the cost of your own voice.
In therapy, we will name what has been held in for too long, understand how family and cultural systems shaped your emotional world, and develop practical ways to express yourself with clarity and self-respect without losing connection to the people who matter to you.
Specialties: Intergenerational Trauma, Somatic Awareness, Cultural Identity and Differentiation
Burnout & Chronic Stress
When you’ve been operating in survival mode for too long, burnout can sneak in and leave you feeling numb, exhausted, or like you're constantly “on edge.” Whether from caregiving, a high-stress job, or ongoing emotional demands, I help clients recognize the signs of chronic stress, reclaim their sense of balance, and make meaningful shifts that reflect their values and capacity.
Specialties: Life Transitions, Anxiety, Executive Functioning
Supporting Young Adults
The shift from adolescence to adulthood, whether that involves starting college, entering the workforce, or learning to live more independently, can feel overwhelming. I support young adults in finding their voice, building confidence, and developing the emotional tools needed to navigate this stage of life with greater clarity and self-awareness. Together, we work on strengthening identity, reducing anxiety, and learning to handle change with intention and resilience.
Specialties: Emerging Adulthood, Life Transitions, Identity Formation
Parenting Challenges &
Work-Life Balance
Whether you’re a new parent or raising teens, parenting can bring both joy and deep self-doubt. This is especially true when you’re juggling competing demands and reflecting on your own upbringing. I help parents create space to explore their identity, process emotional overwhelm, and break intergenerational cycles with greater intention. Our work supports you in finding a steadier, more connected rhythm at home.
Specialties: Parenthood, Executive Functioning, Reparenting Childhood Emotional Neglect
Healing Relationships & How You Connect
Relationships can be the source of our deepest joy and our deepest pain. If you’re feeling disconnected, caught in recurring conflict, or carrying tension in close relationships, you’re not alone.
Many emotional struggles, such as anxiety, depression, or feeling stuck, are shaped by how safe or unsafe we’ve learned to feel in relationship. In therapy, we explore both the present-day challenges in how you relate and the deeper patterns that influence your emotional responses and expectations.
Our work may include strengthening communication, understanding reactive cycles, exploring family-of-origin influences, and rebuilding a sense of emotional security. Together, we focus on creating clearer, more intentional ways of connecting with others and with yourself.
Specialties: Relationship Distress, Attachment, Family-of-Origin Work, Communication & Boundaries, Reparenting
